New Member Welcome

Jeff Bergeson was inducted as the Kingman Rotary Club's newest member. Jeff is a local optometrist who recently moved back to Kingman with his wife. He expressed that the primary motivation behind their return to Kingman was a belief that Kingman has something special to offer and a faith in the people of Kingman to make a difference. Jeff is already active in "Service Above Self" and was drawn to Rotary to further his service to the local and greater global community.

Welcome Jeff - we are proud to have you and hope you jump right in and take a leadership role in continuing the tradition of service in our club!

Program

Jack and Billy holding Rotary banners from their trip Jack, along with the PowerPoint expertise of his wonderful assistant / wife Maggie, presented our program. His presentation was a 100 mile view of his and Billy's recent trip to Mexico for the Wheel Chair project. Jack described the trip as amazing and eye opening to what Rotary can be.

Jack and Maggie holding Rotary banners from the trip Jack took us through their time in Mexico and described how big Rotary was in the cities that they visited. Representatives from every local club were present at all functions in full force, there were entire streets sponsored by and dedicated to Rotary, and the pride in Rotary exhibited by community members was amazing. Rotary was THE service organization.

Finally Jack showed us what the trip was all about with images of individuals receiving their new wheel chairs.

Thank you Jack for taking the time to put together such a great presentation and representing our club on this project!

Student Rotarian

Carol, Brittany, and Brian Brittany Turney, our outgoing Student Rotarian, gave a quick talk on Academic Decathalon (AcaDec), of which she is a proud participant. AcaDec is a volunteer club for students who wish to challenge themselves to learn outside of their schooling and compete locally, regionally and nationally. Their club does not provide any school credit or special recognitions, but Brittany is happy to be learning more and gaining the great experience in leadership, speech, interviewing and other professional skills that AcaDec helps develop.

Brittany plans on attending ASU where she hopes to study English Literature. She loves the Russian Classics, Modern Fantasy, and holds Dantes as her favorite author.

Best of luck to Brittany and have fun on your trip to Chicago, but remember, don't do anything Dad wouldn't do! :)
