Student Rotarian
Kyle Keller, our outgoing Student Rotarian gave a quick talk today. Thank you for stopping by our club and best of luck to you!
Program
Stephen provided our program today which he dedicated to communication technologies. In working with telecommunications for some time now, Stephen has seen considerable advancement in technology. Currently there are a number of upgrades being made to the industry at large including here in Kingman.
One of the bigger shifts in the telephone system paradigm that we will soon see in this area is a change from the current phone system to an Ethernet based approach. Another recent change in the area is the addition of 577 fibers for the Frontier fiber optic systems that support Kingman and some of the surrounding areas. Other up and coming advancements include a "Metro E" system which allows seamless network connectivity between remote facilities; WiFi and Wi-Max which will increase wireless access throughout public easement areas; and a shift in cellular phone emergency number routing to a GPS version that will save critical seconds when making emergency calls such as 911.
Thank you for the tech-update Stephen!
